Civil Litigation

“Arguing with somebody is never pleasant, but sometimes it is useful and necessary to do so.”

Lemony Snicket, The Ersatz Elevator

Most people do not like conflict. But sometimes it is necessary. Access to courts and to alternative dispute resolution is a fundamental human right. I adopt a rights-based approach to my role as a barrister.

I have worked in private practice since 2012. My experience of civil litigation includes commencing proceedings, drafting pleadings, managing discovery processes, assisting with the preparation of briefs of evidence, dealing with interlocutory matters, appearing in court and dealing with issues relating to costs.

I can help you

I take a clear problem-solving approach. I will aim to reduce litigation costs by seeking resolution of disputes at the earliest possible stage. I have appeared for clients in a large number of mediations.

Seeing my clients find solutions to disputes, which may have been continuing for some time, is the most satisfying part of my job. I find that preparing and implementing legal strategies which enable my clients to attain their goals to be extremely satisfying. But the core of my practice is the integrity of the barrister/ client relationship.

Every dispute is different. A bespoke approach is required for every dispute to be managed professionally. This requires a thorough understanding of the issues, accessing all relevant information, carrying out legal research and a detailed analysis of all of the material. My approach to dispute resolution is one which seeks to empower my clients to make well-informed strategic decisions.
